Why should you come to Bristol CadCam for your intraoral scanner?

  • Understanding your needs is our priority
  • We are digital experts
  • We offer tailored packages
  • We provide ongoing support

Extended range of intraoral scanners

Bristol CadCam has focused on digital dentistry since its inception in 2006. The company grew out of the milling centre Bristol Crown, so we have always had access to the machines and software that we sell. We have had a relationship with Medit for many years and started our journey with intraoral scanners with the Medit i500. Over the years we have extended our range and now sell and support 3Shape, iTero and Shining intraoral scanners.

We get enquiries every day from dentists who are wondering whether they should invest in an intraoral scanner, they want to know about costs, benefits and downsides. There is also the question, once they have decided to go ahead, of which model is best for them. We can answer all those questions.

We have worked with dentists all over the country, demonstrating the intraoral scanners, showing them in their own setting how the scanner can reduce chair time and enhance patient experience. Once a dentist purchases an intraoral scanner, we will spend time onsite with them, setting the system up and training the dentist and any other staff on the best use of the scanner.

Different intraoral scanners will require a different specification of laptop. We have IT experts who research and source the right laptop, and they set it up for you prior to delivery and installation of the entire system.

Once the purchase is complete, the relationship with you is not over. The person who helped you choose your scanner will be at the end of a phone to support you when you need it. If they aren’t available, you will be helped by our experienced IT and digital dental support team.

When deciding to purchase something like an intraoral scanner you can be forgiven for comparing the different prices suppliers charge. Price is important of course, and we are very transparent about how much we charge and for what, and always happy to have a conversation over price.

Here is what one of our customers said:

Stephanie Buck

“Had my first scanner delivered today by Tom Mitchell (after getting really good deal at the Dental Conference!) 3 really great hours training up the team. After Tom left I scanned my first patient. Messed up occlusion a bit, called software support and a very helpful guy (sorry didn’t catch your name) talked me through correcting it. Thank you to you both. Would highly recommend”

The helpful guy was Joe by the way 🙂

“Bristol CADCAM helped us move our digital development forwards a at incredible pace. The team were helpful and supportive long before a sale was guaranteed and more importantly have taken excellent care of us afterwards. Initial training on our purchase was thorough and allowed us to really understand how our new tech works, ongoing support has always been responsive.”

What is an intraoral scanner and how does it work?

  • High resolution imaging
  • Accurate & precise
  • Real time visualisation
  • Enhanced patient comfort.

Scan a full arch in 2-5 minutes

Intraoral scanners are handheld devices used to create precise 3D digital impressions of the teeth and gums. This device is moved around the inside of the patient’s mouth where light is projected onto the dental structures capturing the reflected images with a high-resolution camera.

These images are captured via software and will appear on a connected computer or laptop screen in real time. These files can be electronically sent to your dental lab and be processed to produce a precise 3D model of the patient’s mouth and then used for various procedures such as crowns, bridges, implants and orthodontics.

Typically, it takes around 2-5 minutes to scan a full arch, depending on the scanner model and the operator’s experience. An intraoral scanner can greatly improve the experience of the clinician and patient.

How do intraoral scanners improve the patient’s experience?

  • Takes highly accurate 3D scans
  • Enhances communication
  • Gets rid of uncomfortable impression trays
  • Reduces chair time.

Involving the patient leads to greater trust and engagement

Intraoral scanning is a digital technology that allows dentists and their teams to take highly accurate 3D scans of their patients’ mouths. This technology can greatly enhance communication with dental patients in several ways.

Firstly, an intraoral scan provides a visual representation of the patient’s mouth so instead of just describing any issues the dentist has found, or using traditional x-rays, the dentist can show the patient the actual 3D scan, making it easier to explain and discuss specific areas of concern with the patient; they see for themselves what is going on and are more likely to understand that change is needed.

Using the intraoral scanner, the visual representation produced on the screen allows the dentist to discuss in much more detail with the patient than is allowed when using a standard X-Ray. The dentist can zoom in on problem areas and the patient feels more engaged with any treatment plan that is proposed and is also likely to have more trust in both the dentist and any plans they propose.

Oh, and it also gets rid of the need for uncomfortable impression trays and of course reduces chair time.
